Kenrick Lamar

January 28th, 2012

jharper

This post was inspired by the performance Kendrick Lamar put on at Sugar, in Park City this past Wednesday night. If you haven’t heard of the California native rapper yet, it is only a matter of time before you are a part of the movement too. Below are some tracks just to get you started, enjoy. Pick up his newest album here.

Ok, we’re totally kidding about the “gently used” thing, but it IS signed by Tim Durtschi. Over at the main Saga Outerwear page they’re giving away 7 full kits in 7 days, that would be similar to us giving away nineteen space shuttles over the next 11 minutes, but we got them iPods kiddies.

Today we’re featuring a “Tim’s Fierce Five” list from Mr. Durtschi himself…wanna ride like the pros, gotta listen like the pros (write that down). These are the top 5 tunes in Tim’s rotation right now, and should do the trick if you need a little extra motivation to move from spread eagles off road cuts to double-corks in the backcountry.

(From the Archives, gotcha).

HOW TO WIN

Ok, so you’re probably curious about how you get your hands on this limited-edition signed iPod… over at our parent site, they’ve got some fancy graphics explaining their silly little contest, but again, we’re a little strapped for cash over here so i’ll break it down for ya.

All you have to do is leave a comment on this post, and we will select one winner randomly on Friday. Make fun of Tim’s song choice, say what’s up to the person above you, comment on our sense of style or the mustard on our pants…anything goes. We’ll notify the winner on Friday, so don’t give us your “yeah@right.com” email address, we promise, no spam.

Mr.Solo Dolo is Alive (Kid Cudi vs. Kid Cudi Mashup) – WeirdBro

Wolfgang Gartner – Space Junk (OVERWERK Remix)

Benny Bennassi – Cinema (Skrillex Remix)

The Naked And Famous – Young Blood (Dave Sitek Remix)

Nicki Minaj – Super Bass (Cassettes Won’t Listen Remix)

BONUS: Look what just landed in our inbox, an email from Mr. Wiley Miller the ladykiller, with his top 5 list. Turns out we have another iPod to give away. How does tomorrow sound? Now we have to track down Wiley to sign the darned thing.

Getting Gangster With It

December 8th, 2011

Sir Pearce

I realized that at SagaNoise, we have seriously been letting down the gang-related folks that might be reading, so today I bring you a track that is certified gangster. Well, technically the remixes are free, and you’ll have to figure out how to trade snapbacks for gift cards to buy the original on the iTunes store (or just use your credit card, but no certified gangster f**ks with banks). Buy “G Like Me – Sinden feat. G-Side” on iTunes here.

Mad Decent’s Sinden, who should definitely already be on your iPod (but we’ll forgive you, just this once)… gets extra gangster on this track with help from G-Side… the remixes are awesome too. There’s a ‘chopped & screwed’ mix out there, but we’d rather get kicked in the crotch by an angry clydesdale than listen to chopped and screwed music.

The Date

December 6th, 2011

Sir Pearce

Earlier I posted about Heineken’s awesome ad campaign for “The Entrance”… They are absolutely killing it lately with these ad campaigns. The commercials are brilliant, and they feature some pretty good music as well, I am a huge fan of off the wall stuff like this in my DJ sets.

Their latest offering is called “The Date” and features a catchy swing tune with a Bollywood feel. It has a Bollywood feel for a reason too…the song is called “Jaan Pahechan Ho” by Bollywood legend Mohammed Rafi. Check out the video below, the song below the video and go “Like” the Heineken Facebook page to watch a “making of” video that is just as cool as the original ad. I can’t wait to see what they do next.

Big Rig Trucker Butter

December 6th, 2011

Sir Pearce

If I drove a big rig truck it would have a velvet interior, vampire fangs in the grille, a fog horn and chrome naked lady mud flaps…and I would listen to music by “Sleeping Bag” at all times when I drove it. I would be a boss hog gangsta of the road.

Sleeping Bag’s music sounds like the illegitimate love child of a trailer park tryst between The Black Keys and The Pixies. It sounds like there was a incense and Jameson jam session happening in a garage, and someone tossed in a karaoke machine microphone to record it. It is raw, noisy and aggressive…and it makes me want to drive my hell-beast semi down a mountain pass too fast and smash into Priuses. It also sounds he is singing inside of a 5 gallon bucket, I hope they really do that if I see them live. This is what I would also listen to on epic groomer days, rocking ridiculous speeds on green circles threading the needle on some family chumps.

Robotic Pirate Monkey

December 6th, 2011

Sir Pearce

Group names like Robotic Pirate Monkey make me happy, and coincidentally so does this group’s music. These guys are from Boulder, Colorado…and I feel like you should just listen now. Their new album “Colors in Disguise” comes out of the gate HARD, you’ll see what i’m talking about. Hit play now. If this doesn’t get your head nodding, I will retire.

Houseparty Noise…

December 5th, 2011

Sir Pearce

I like Christmas about as much as I like cleaning the toilet, but can’t help but get caught up in all the holiday cheer every once in a while. Christmas reminds me of Gin, and I hate Gin (it tastes like blended Christmas trees, bleh). I know that has nothing to do with anything, but this isn’t your blog, now is it? I can say whatever I want. Platypus. Ointment. And we’re back…. one thing I do like about Christmas is house parties. They’re like parties, in people’s houses.

Here’s a commercial mix to play at your house party, preferably before your grandma drinks too much red wine and throws up on your pomeranian. Vegas up-and-comers Kid Conrad and A-Jamz put down some fire….both ultra legit dudes. Kid Conrad won the LIQUID Pool Water Wars DJ Battle this year, so you’ll be seeing a lot of him around the city of sin, plus he reps Saga Family HARD. AJ sold me a BMW, and he has a hot wife…

Putting in Werk

December 1st, 2011

Sir Pearce

Ok…back from the dead, with no help from nyquil or soup (both of which are dead to me now). One of my favorite producers dropped a new album today, and it is probably a pretty good idea that you check it out. Overwerk is from London, not the ‘fish & chips’ London, but London, Canada. Fast fact: there are 8 cities named ‘London’ in the good ol’ US of A.

Seems to be a lot of talent coming out of Canada lately, f’in eh? (Pardon my French Canadian).

Any album that opens with a homage to ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’ is ok in my book. Packed full of electro, dubstep, house and plain awesomeness, this is definitely a record that will get you pumped up to karate chop boards in half, or whatever gets your rocks off when you’re pumped. Want more? That’s what we’re here for:

BONUS: Looks like i’ll be sharing the decks this weekend with SoulSymmetry up in Spokane, Washington… should be a good show, check out his last mix below. He calls is “Spaced Out Electro Funk”, which is fine by me. It’s a free download, and there’s more available over at his Soundcloud Page.

Spaceman Music…

November 27th, 2011

Sir Pearce

Earlier today, I was thinking to myself, “What is the best job on the planet?” The only answer is: Spaceman. Think about it, when you are not in space, you are training to go to space and bragging to people about how you have been to space. Everything in your life becomes space related, space food, space clothes, space music.

I was looking for a reason to show some love to our friends over at Bangerz Only, so I headed over to their blog and POW…space music. For my daily DJ duties here in the city of sin, I turn to Bangerz Only regularly, especially when I need dirty, dirty electro beats. Not only is it a rad website, but was founded by equally as rad dudes, Gem and Coma. On numerous occasions I have gotten blackout drunk with both of them, which makes them legit.

Today’s noise is courtsey of our friends over at Bangerz Only, pay them a visit and let them know what the heck is up.

Space music from Flatland Funk, they are Canadian and know how to please space ears. Do you know how to please space ears? We didn’t think so. This is the “Boodag Bounce”, and it will sound quite nice coming out of your space speakers in your space shuttle (or your lowly iPod).

More space music can be found by navigating your modern internet machine to the links below. You are welcome.
